I am so disappointed that Paul Hamm has to withdraw from the Olympics. I was so looking forward to watching the Hamm brothers. I do think that it is great for alternate, Raj Bahavsar, though. I can't wait to watch the gymnastics - men's and women's - it is my absolute favorite sport to watch!

A few weeks ago my oldest and my daughter took swimming lessons. I couldn't sign my youngest up because he isn't potty trained yet. I signed my oldest up for level 2 because he has taken classes before. I signed my daughter up for level 1 because she hasn't. My oldest wasn't ready for the level 2 classes, so they moved him to level 1. It broke his little heart. And then at the end of class? My daughter passed and was moved to level 2, and my son didn't pass. He was supposed to take level 1 again.
Since we swam over the weekend, and worked hard on the skills, I signed him up for level 2. He started lessons this morning and did really well. I was crossing my fingers, and praying that he would be able to stay in level 2. He did well, and I think will learn a lot. Here's hoping...

The school that my kids go to was offering a pre-kindergarten reading fundamentals class. My daughter was accepted for the class and she started this morning. She is absolutely thrilled. She gets to go for 3 hours a day for 3 weeks. It is great!

We borrowed the first season of 24 from the library. Holy crap. It is so addicting! We have stayed up WAY to late watching every night.

I am reading "Before the Dawn" by Dean Hughes right now. It is about a Relief Society president in the Depression. It is so good so far. And it amazes me how well this man writes women.

Any thoughts?

I've read Dean Hughes Children of the Promise and Hearts of the Children series, and I loved them! He's a really good writer. And I love historical fiction, so those (and the book you are reading) are right up my alley. You'll have to keep me updated on how you liked the book, I might have to try to squeeze that in between reading my textbooks. :)
Dean Hughes is a really great writer. I've enjoyed every book of his that i have read.
I can't not wait for daily recaps of Kindergarten. Your daughter has me giddy about school because she loves it so much!
I'm going to have to look into 24, everyone seems to be addicted to it!
Max just started swimming lessons yesterday, it's great. I was going to put him in level 2 because he's gone swimming a ton, but I put him in 1 just in case, and I'm glad I did because it's the right place for him. He can't swim quite as well as I was hoping he could!
We're going to start watching 24 too soon I think. It sounds good!
I haven't been keeping up on Olympic stuff, but darn! I loved the Hamm brothers. My fave is Michael Phelps in swimming, though. And Tyson Gay in Track & Field. You can bet there will be Olympic fever running through our home in the next couple of weeks!
I read a book by Dean Hughes called "All Moms Go to Heaven." It's about a summer he was the stay at home parent while his wife did some schooling or internship or something. I wonder if that summer gave him a glimpse of womanhood?
oh my word, don't even get me started on 24! love it so much! i don't know how people can watch it one episode at a time! we always rent it and watch the whole season in a weekend! we just can't stop! so good!
I remember when I rented the first season of 24. I could not stop watching! In fact it was so bad that I have not even started on the 2nd season. Now you've got me thinking about it so I might have to. :-)
I've heard about "Before the Dawn" but have not read it. Maybe I will try to get a copy through inter-library loan one of these days.
