We watched The Great Debaters with Denzel last night. I was disappointed. The story was good but it was kind of slow moving.

The city of Portland is trying to pass an initiative that people will have to pay up to 20 cents for each plastic (or paper) bag they at stores. I think it's a bunch of B.S. Any thoughts?

I've been reading a little about The Grocery Game. Anyone played? Is it worth it? They offer a four week trial for $1 so I am considering it. One tip I read said to save coupons from the paper for a few weeks before joining.

A few days ago I bought three pounds of ground beef because it was a good price. I planned to make tacos, lasagna and glorified hamburgers. We had tacos and then my hubby went out of town for two dinners so I didn't cook. I pulled what was left (2+ pounds, I'm certain)out last night and it had gone bad! It seriously stunk to high heaven. I'm so annoyed! All that money straight in the trash. And nothing to eat for dinner.

My oldest is going to two birthday parties this weekend. We don't have anything else planned. I am hoping to get some projects around the house done. Anyone have any fun plans?

This post leaves much to be desired, but I am really am curious of your thoughts on the Grocery Game. Thanks. :)

I actually kind of enjoyed this post, lol. Lots to comment on and its the day to day stuff. On the bags, we shop at a discount store called Aldi, where you have to pay for bags, which got us unto the habit of using boxes and totes. I actually like this better, since it lets me presort my groceries right in the car and when I get home putting away is easier.
I feel you pain on the meat too, I HATE throwing out food. I bought a bunch of those super cheap pot pies because they make great snacks, they turned out to be awful and I just tossed them. Sad.
20 cents a bag seems pretty steep. I would be so much better at taking all my reusable bags with me if I had to pay! IKEAs everywhere make you pay 5 cents a bag, and our grocery store here gives back 5 cents for each bag you bring. In San Francisco, they've banned the bags altogether. Crazy, isn't it?
Grocery game: I went to cancel on July 26th, exactly 1 day after my $1 trial ended! DANG IT. I think it was good, but not worth the money at all. I've found some sites that do almost the exact same thing for FREE. I don't have them handy on this computer, but e-mail me and I'll send them to you.

I've thought about the grocery game, but I can't bring myself to pay. Like Julie P, I've found a couple of sites that have helped me a lot. I don't have your email, so send me a note and I'll send you my links...
$.20 a bag? That sounds like something they would do in Oregon. :-) My husband was amazed at how big our trash cans are out here and not only that but we can put extra bags or cans out with the regular one. He is used to having only 1 tiny garbage can.
Ok...so that has nothing to do with your post but it just got me thinking about how different things are in Oregon.
I've never done the grocery game...
I've never heard of the grocery game. But it sounds interesting. As for more randomness, are you going to go get Breaking Dawn at midnight tonight? I wish you were over here. We are going up to Barnes and Noble at Tanasbourne.
I've thrown out so much meat in my day it would probably feed somebody for a year! I always feel terrible about it. We're doing a lot better now though. We've been working on actually using what we buy at the store!
20 cents a bag? I'd go broke in one trip to the grocery store just covering all the bags I use! Sheesh!
oh i hate when meat goes bad! when i was sick and my mom was here she went to costco. she bought the ground beef and put it in the bottom drawer of the fridge (where i've never put it before) totally forgot about it and all 7 pounds of it went brown! yuck! what a waste!
