After that we went to the beach. It was such a great day there. It was cloudy and it was windy, but the kids had a great time dipping their toes in and digging in the sand. We spent a few hours out there before we headed home and ate pizza and lit off a few fireworks.
After that we went to a local town's fireworks celebration. It was wonderful. 25 minutes of solid fireworks with out stopping. I had quest to get some good firework shots so I took my mini-tripod and took 65 pictures. For the most part I am pleased with how they turned out. Here are a few of my faves:
To get these shots I set my camera to the fireworks setting, used my tripod and tried to hold as still as possible. I did shot after shot until my youngest insisted on being held. :)

those are excellent pictures! i love them! they turned out wonderful! it sure helps to have a tripod for shots like these! we are missing a piece so i had to hand hold my camera for our fireworks shots! it's hard to stay still that long!
Wow, those pictures turned out GREAT! One of the things I love about our neighborhood is we live above where they shoot off our city's fireworks. We close down the street, having a big block party and play all night long!

I didn't get to see any big shows this year, which was a bummer, but we did get to go to a big parade out here in RI that was really fun. And we ate at somebody's bbq, and what's the 4th without a hot dog, right?

I didn't know there was a "fireworks" setting! I'll have to look on my camera for that one. And I really really need a tripod.
Great shots! We were in Idaho visiting Nathan's sister and her family. We had a blast. They do a huge fireworks show in front of their house.
