Daughter was mad at me on Saturday when I was taking the braids out of her hair, and she cut her hair. Again. Right on the top, in the front, down to the scalp. I tried to hide it with three french braids, but ultimately decided that it needed to be cut short all over. I knew she wouldn’t be pleased, but I also hoped she would learn her lesson. I cut it, took her picture and then let her go look at it. She freaked out. She cried, and screamed. And I felt horrible. No Mother-of-the-Year award here. She is convinced that people will laugh at her but I think she looks adorable. And no one has laughed at her.
I hosted our RS book club on Wednesday. I served brownies with mint-chocolate frosting on them. They were so good, but I exercised some restraint and didn’t eat the whole pan. I saved a few for my kids. I found an ice-breaker game to get the conversation flowing, and then we discussed Princess Academy by Shannon Hale. I found a great list of questions to use at the county Library website.
Oldest did something highly unusual on Sunday night. He asked if he could try salad. Like we would say no. And he asked for it again last night! My picky-eater may grow up healthy after all.
In our dining room we have a set of sheer curtains that hang to the floor. I love them, but they may have to go. Since we have moved here, we have said daily, "Don’t play with the curtains/drapes." I'm tired of it.
A couple of nights ago, while Youngest was wrapped up in them, Bryan said, "Youngest! Stop playing in the drapes!"
Youngest went all red in the face and shouted, "They are not drapes!" He points at Bryan and continues, "They are CURTAINS!"
So there you have it. That is what is happening here. How about where you are?

I think Daughter looks adorable!! I would neve have known she cut her hair at all!!
Now I really want brownies with mint frosting. Blast you! :)
yeah, her hair is really cute. That's great you could get a list of questions to get the book conversation going. I tried to get into Shannon Hale but I just couldn't. Something must be wrong with me.
Bridget, I read Princess Academy first and I really enjoyed it. I read Austenland second and wasn't a fan so I haven't been able to bring myself to read any of her others.
Thanks for the movie review. I've been curious about it. And, daughter is beautiful. You can tell her I said that!
Your dd is adorable! I hope she learns to love it and never cut her hair again...lol! I can laugh because all of my kids have done it to themselves, my middle son Mayson even found the electric clippers and gave himself a nice bald spot! Urgh! But they never did it again, which was good. :)
Glad you had some time alone with your dh, it's a good thing :)
Shannon Hale's books are really good for young girls. I enjoyed them, but they are all very much like Princess Academy. Austenland is not, however, and is not for children. But anyway...
I love her hair! Tell her I think it's adorable. However, tell her she still shouldn't cut it. Man, I've been through that a few times!
My kids are constantly in the drapes (excuse me, the curtains), too. I'm getting tired of telling them to knock it off, too. ~sigh~
Why can't kids learn the first time? SHe looks beautiful, still. Does her hair grow fast or slow? Sounds like life is keeping you busy, glad you are enjoying it. I am working on my swap, how is yours going?
Your daughter is adorable. Her hair is so cute.
