I had a few friends participate in a Project 365 last year, and I tried it, but I gave up. Part of the problem, for me, was that I started midway through the year and I couldn’t handle that. This year, when I saw that scrapbooker Becky Higgins was doing a scrapbook kit so you could scrapbook all 365 of your photos in one album, I decided to try again {and I was one of the lucky ones that got a kit before they sold out, although when I see them selling on ebay for $150, I am tempted to sell mine).
You might be thinking, what is a Project 365? Well, you find a good definition here. Or you can read mine. :) Basically, you take at least one photo everyday. That way you are capturing the things are your life right now. And hopefully your abilities with the camera will improve over the course of 365 days.
I’ve seen some blogs where they post their picture everyday. I’m not going to do that. A lot of my pictures are just so mundane. And through January nearly all of them have been indoor so they aren’t that good. For example on January 1, I took a photo of my oldest playing Wii. It’s not something that you all want to see but it is our life right now. I took a picture of my tv as I watched the inauguration of our new president. I took a picture of my kids headed to the bus stop once.
While I don’t plan on sharing all of the pictures, I do plan on sharing some. Hopefully through the year, I will get some good pictures that are worthy of sharing. Here are some from the month of January:
My daughter playing Yahtzee. She always lays on the couch strangely.
I went into cookie mode and made four batches of cookies in two days. They were good, although I prefer my peanut butter cookies with out a hershey kiss and the only person that would try one ate the chocolate and left the rest so I wont do that again.
Two morning we woke up with our roof in our front yard. We had some crazy wind everyday for a week and it blew shingles everywhere, knocked down trees and fences and generally wreaked havoc.
My oldest doing his first report on a country. He chose Canada, so he and my husband looked up details on Wikipedia. Does anyone own an encyclopedia any more? When I was little, I always wanted to own a set. Now that I am old enough to, I don’t need to. Probably just as well, though.
Bryan and my soon to be brother-in-law repairing our roof. I love the sky in this picture!
So, are you doing a project 365? Any January pictures you’ve taken that you just love?

I love the idea of a "slice of life" picture a day. I love the ones you've done. You are just amazing with the camera! I'll have to show you pics of my niece who sits in a million different positions while reading, etc.
What a fun project, and one your family can all treasure. Keep sharing your pics!
Your roof! That is terrible!! So lucky to have handy people in the family though to fix it.
I love the 365 project. Don't sell the scrapbook it, you take such beautiful pictures, the memory you create will mean way more to you than the cash in a few years!
That is an adorable picture of your daughter on the couch! What is it with kids and strange positions?
This is a great idea. I love the pictures you took because like you said they capture the essence of your life. Fantastic.
