Do you make resolutions? I do most years. Some years, I am better about keeping them and working on them. I feel like the new year is a good time for me to sit down and reevaluate my life and the progress I am making (or not).
I did not do well with the goals I set for myself last year. Did you do well?
The last few days I have pondering things that I want to change. Pondering possbile goals to make for myself and my little family. I don’t have much but here is what I have come up with:
- Get Healthy. This goal will include losing some weight, working out regularly {weights/cardio}, eating healthy, cutting out extra junk and carbonation and caffeine.
- Read. I want to read to my children most days. I want to continue to read a lot, but still have time for other activities and projects. I want to include more spiritual reading this year as well – more scriptures, more spiritual books.
- Spirituality. I want to bring my family closer together. I feel like there is too much yelling and fighting and contention. My oldest son said tonight during dinner that he wants to read the Book of Mormon together as a family this year. He is getting baptized this year, so I need to do more to prepare him so that he has a testimony of the Lord before he turns 8. So more family nights, more scripture reading, more prayer as a family. More temple attendance for me.
- Finish what I start. I have a couple of quilts that I have started and not finished. I have other projects that I need to get finished.
So, how did you do on the goals you set for yourself last year? Any goals in mind for this year?
I keep changing my blog template, so sorry if I am annoying anyone. I’m happy with the current results so it should stay this way for awhile.

Being a better mom (less yelling at the kids) is one of my #1s. I really need to make time each day for "spirit" time. I have such a hard time finding a consistent 20 minute chunk a day, I need to focus on digging out that chunk and sticking with it. Maybe late afternoon...
I need to set some goals. One I want to do is to be a better mom, meaning one who says "Yes" more and does more with them.
I haven't sat down yet to think my list through. I want to make attainable, measurable goals. Then maybe next year I'll actually remember what they were! I don't remember my 2008 ones. Oops.
That is why I posted them, Bridget. So I don't forget. Becuase these are changes that I truly want to make.
Holly, I've been thinking about your comment and you've nailed it. I need to be more of a 'yes' mom instead of always saying no.
I'm not a very good goal setter. So I haven't made any resolutions this year on paper or anything but I do feel the need to add more spiritual acitivities into our families day. Maybe I'll write some out...
Thanks for sharing your resolutions! I have a few rattling around in my mind but haven't committed to any just yet... But you are inspiring. Thanks.
