Shoes

I remember my dad taking me shoe shopping once. I must have been in kindergarten or 1st grade. Not very old. He found these purple shoes and decided that they were the ones I was going to where.

I hated them.

They were Velcro. He said they were sturdy, and they would go on fast. They had a pocket on the side with a white button. He said I could put a dime in it.

I cried. I cried a lot as a youngster.

It did nothing. My dad still bought me those shoes and I am sure that I wore them until they fell apart. I don't really remember, but I remember being so mad that I didn't get to choose my own shoe.

A couple of weeks ago at Target, I found these shoes:

They are so stinkin' cute. I absolutely love them. Even though Daughter wasn't with me, I bought them. I was so excited. I was sure she would love them. They have pink on them after all.
She hated them.
She would not even try them on.
I thought about making her wear them anyway, because I had all ready bought them. Then I remembered the shirts in her drawer that she refuses to wear. So, sadly, I took them back.
If only my feet were smaller. I could wear them.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I am returning the blog hopping favor. I enjoyed reading your post.
I can totally relate. Kids have very strong opinions these days!!!

Why is it that we wore what we were told to wear, even if we didn't like it, and our kids don't? My boys are the same way. I can't get E to wear any shirt with a collar on it, except for his dress shirt on Sunday.

I have the same problem. It makes me so sad to get stuff that I'm sure he'll like and then he hates it! But I guess that's part of them having their own personalities, right?
I always wore what my parents got me even if I hated it because I never wanted to hurt their feelings.

Way to draw on those childhood memories and come through for your daughter! It's hard to do but good for you. I would love to wear lots of Maren's clothes that she doesn't see to care about either. sigh..

Why can't our children understand that they should have the same taste in everything as us? ~sigh~

I agree with you. Those shoes are super cute! I saw a pair in our Target, too...

I bought the same shoes for Gracie and she won't wear them either! She says they feel floppy. I kept them. Maybe if her feet grow a little and they are tight she'll wear them. For a week until she complains that they hurt her feet because they're too small...

By the way, Walmart has the same shoes for big girls. :) You CAN get some!
