Last week I took the kids and met my cousin and her daughter at the Oregon Zoo for the afternoon. It was one of those big things that I had wanted to do this summer but never got around to. My daughter got a free pass for her (and a parent!) from the library so we decided we better use that quick.
We went on the perfect day. The weather was cool, there wasn’t a ton of people and the animals were active.
Someday I’ll get a picture of my three kids together and they will all be looking at the right spot and smiling nicely.
We saw the goats, black bears and eagles:
We saw the pigs, the baby elephant (1 year and 2 days when we were there – he’s so cute!) and the giraffes:
We went to the Lorakeet landing (those are some bright birds!):
I love the zoo.
When we went out of the elephant house the other adult elephants were there with the trainers and the trainers were having them do tricks. I was holding my youngest so he could see so I didn’t get any pictures, but seeing an elephant stand on both his left legs, and then sit down on his back legs was very cool. I think they are my favorite. We got to see all the animals the kids wanted. My oldest wanted to see the rhino’s and the penguins, my daughter wanted to see the giraffes and my youngest wanted to see the tigers. The tiger was just sleeping so it was kind of boring, but over all it was a great day.

I love the giraffes. I remember when I was little, one of the giraffes was eating something and I saw his purple tongue and was like "wooooaaahh! I still think they so cool!

I need to get off my rear and take the girls to the zoo. Ours is a day trip away, but well worth it! Glad you guys had such a great time.
Gotta say I'm not a huge fan of the zoo but my kids are so I make sure we go twice a year. My faves are always the playful polar bears and sea lions.
I don't really like the zoo so but my kids usually get to go once a year because of a school field trip or a friend or family member will take them. I think I like the polar bears the best.
