I love that it is September.
I love that the days are getting shorter, the weather is getting a little cooler and crisper. I look forward to the leaves changing, the kids being in school and visits to a pumpkin patch. September means Saturdays on the soccer field; sweaters and jeans; and chili in the crock pot.
It also means homework, scouts and open windows. It means college football is starting, the Utah Jazz season is right around the corner and raking leaves. For me, fall is about new school supplies, fleece blankets and wrapping up in a big sweatshirt to read a book on the couch.
It’s also about crunching through the leaves on the sidewalk, watching kids play in the piles at the park and photographing the colors of fall. It means new portraits for the wall, bread baking in the kitchen and learning in the schools. It’s the promise of General Conference around the corner, early mornings and bathes in the evening. It’s new haircuts, new shoes and new back packs.
It’s red and yellow and orange.
September makes way for October which brings candy and trick or treating and costumes. Pumpkin carving, home decorations and children’s imaginations as they decide who to be on Oct. 31.
Following October comes November and Thanksgiving (which is taking over as my favorite holiday) and family, food and traditions. I love being in the warm kitchen where the turkey has been baking all day and you can smell the yeast in the rolls. I love the fancy dishes making their appearance and making place-cards so everyone knows where to sit. I love telling family tales, and laughing, and playing games.
Before we know it, November will make way for December with cold days, hot cocoa and Christmas decorations. We’ll be counting down days until Santa comes; thinking a lot about our Savior, Jesus; and hoping for white on the ground come December 25.
I guess it is official: fall is becoming my favorite season.
Or maybe I just love the months that end in “ber”.

Since moving from the season-less locale of Las Vegas to the full-o'-seasons valley of Logan, I've come to really relish the signs of fall. There are so many fun things to look forward to!
Me too, me too, me too. I love it all.
Great post. Awesome pics.
I'm still not ready for fall, though. That means winter is close. Not quite ready for that. :)
