How did that happen?
Here it is…six weeks…five?…until school starts and I have done hardly anything of my summer list of to-do’s.
We’ve been camping only once. I haven’t taken the kids hiking. We haven’t been to the zoo. We haven’t been to the Children’s Museum. We haven’t been to Crater Lake or Mt. St. Helens. I haven’t got the kids in swimming lessons. We haven’t visited a lot of different parks. We haven’t had a bbq with neighbors. I haven’t scrapbooked anything. I haven’t kept up with Project 365 very well. We haven’t visited the grounds of the temple. We haven’t gone to TCBY for dollar night. We haven’t roasted marshmallows in the back yard.
Big sigh.
I realized this a couple of days ago so I started making plans. Saturday we would go to Mt. St. Helens. Now, the clouds and rain have blown in so those plans are out.
Sigh.
Yesterday, we needed out of the house so we drove to the temple with a picnic lunch. We got there and I remembered reading in the Relief Society bulletin that the temple is closed. Until August 11. The grounds were closed.
Another sigh.
We drove around until we found a park in a nearby neighborhood and ate our picnic there.
And today, I tell ya, I’d be happy to skip the next five weeks, and pretend like we did everything on my list, and have school start again. I’m longing for a trip to the store with out three extra bodies begging for toys and treats.
Sigh.

It's like rain, on your wedding day
It's the free ride, when you're already there
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
...sing it with me!
Oh, Kelly. It is ironic! And I didn't even see it.
Today was not a good day here. But, it's almost done, and tomorrow is a brand new day. Right?
I am so there with you, except that our school starts in less than two weeks. I have actually almost shed some tears over this this week. I hate this feeling of 'but what about my to-do list?' I had so many things I wanted to do with the kids.... I ALWAYS feel that way at the end of the summer. Makes me want to ditch the lists.
We did make it to the library for the first time this week. Woohoo.
school starts for us in 1 1/2 weeks and i look forward with anticipation being able to go to the store with two kids. one that can talk and whine, and the other that just lays in her carseat and smiles! ahhh can't wait!
Hey, remember the name of your blog? The Little Things right? Don't worry about all the big adventures you didn't do. I bet there were some small ones in your very home that made an impact on those sweet children of yours.
We've done a lot this summer but still have so many things on our must-do list we haven't tackled. You're not alone!
I have not done much on my summer list either. I blame it on being pregnant but really? Things probably would not have been much different even if I wasn't pregnant.
