Random Thoughts

As a kid, I loved to dunk my McDonald's chicken nuggets in honey.  I haven't eaten one in at least twelve years.  And I wont be eating one anytime soon.  Why?  Because in their latest ad campaign they are calling them : Nuggnuts.  It grosses me out.

My oldest brought the Star Wars cookbook home from the school library.  There are actually some pretty good recipes in it.  Surprise, surprise!  Yesterday I made the Princess Leia sweet rolls.  So easy and so good.  My oldest ate two, my daughter ate one and my youngest ate four.  I had three.  They were tasty!

Here's how to make them:  Unroll a pop-tube pizza crust.  Brush with one TBSP melted butter, sprinkle with a mixture of 2 TBSP sugar and 1.5 tsp of cinnamon.  Roll up and pinch the seam.  Slice with a knife and bake at 350 for 20 minutes in a greased pan.  Cool five minutes.  Spread on  frosting made with 1/3 cup powdered sugar and 1 TBSP milk.  Enjoy.

I served mine with hot chocolate.  It was great. And today, I'm going to make "Wookie Cookies" and the kids want the "Skywalker Smoothie" for breakfast tomorrow.

My computer is dying.  We have a Dell laptop.  I wouldn't recommend buying one.  I keep saying that I wouldn't buy another laptop.  I don't want my kids taking the computer to their rooms and doing who knows what with it.  But, if I get a desktop, how will I sit and watch the Today Show or NCIS while I catch up on my friend's lives?  I would really miss not being able to IMDB movie stars while we watch the latest disc from Netflix.  <sigh.>

I seem to have about five minutes of speed when I get online and then it stops.  I was worried that it would die before I got my pictures off (the cd drive is dead) but I got a 8 gb flash drive on "black Friday" for $9, so that part is taken care of.

I realize that I haven't posted about our Fabulous trip to Utah for thanksgiving yet.  My camera battery is charging, so hopefully I'll have a chance to upload my pictures, and then I can work on it.

So, how about you?  Do you eat McDonald's nuggets?  Any good cookbooks for kids that you recommend?  Do you IMDB?  Do you have a laptop?

I am not a fan of the McNugget. That is not to say that I have not partaken of the McNugget on occasion. Madhousewife, on the other hand, might qualify as a Nuggnut, but she has appropriate shame about it. Nuggnut? Ew.

That Star Wars recipe books sounds awesome. Thanks for sharing the Princess Leia Sweet Rolls recipe. I'm totally making those!

P.S. Good luck with the computer!

Oh, and I do IMDB on occasion, but I do not have a laptop.

Also, sorry, no kids cookbooks to recommend. I'm such an unfun mom.

Mmm, I forgot about nuggets in honey. I loved that too! I think they were made with something different back then because they were so much better! You still can't beat a hot and salty McD french fry though.

Blech, Dell. I converted to Mac last year. Brilliant move. I was worried about lap top accessibility for the kids too, but in the end, we got one because the convenience was important for me. I can use it in the yard while I watch them play and while I'm in bed. And the bonus, they can use it when they are near me. Now I can help with homework in any room I am in! It helps that the boy's rooms, for some reason, don't get the wireless signal well so they can't use it up there.

Go Mac!

Umm yes. We have yet to conquer the computer in a private room problem. But, our kids aren't interested in it yet anyways. I like having a lap top for when I go on vacation.

McNuggnuts is completely disgusting.

It's rare that I can watch an entire DVD without resorting to IMDB. It is my friend.

I love my laptop. It is a Dell and I haven't had any problems with it. I would love a Mac but they were more expensive so we went with a Dell. I have mine connected to a desktop monitor so that I get the best of both worlds. This is where I sit and work during the day and then when I want I can just unplug it and use it just as a laptop.

It had been years and years since I had ordered Chicken McNuggets at McDonalds. About a month ago I went through the drivethru and ordered some. They asked me what sauce I wanted. I told them "honey". there was silence. "Ma'am, we don't have honey. Do you want some sweet and sour?" Since when did they stop giving honey as a sauce option? That was always the best one.

I love having a laptop to take on trips. That said, when we had to replace the computer, I wanted a desk top (cheaper). But we got a "free" (since we paid for the 2 year warranty) replacement as a laptop, so I took it. :)

Thanks for blogging about computers today! We are shopping for a laptop for Erik. We are such Mac fans...but they are so pricey. I want to be selfish and not get him one until I can have one...

After much experience with 3 teen boys and computers, I would have them use the laptop in a common area. I'm feeling that way about texting also.
(Though you can't just 'happen by' and see what's on the screen.)

Also, with boy experience comes the awesome cook book "Roald Dahl's Revolting Recipes" if your oldest has read any of his books yet. You can borrow mine!

So glad you are feeling more at home in OR, we missed you! (sorry so long here!)

Oh, and I love your new blog look : )
