More Random Goodness

On Saturday we went to the Farmer's Market.  It was fun.  It was the third time that I have been, and the first time that Bryan has been.  I keep meaning to take my camera and capture some of the sights but I forget.  I love to go.  We got corn, summer squash, cucumbers, green peppers, lettuce, raspberries, peaches and a treat - giant snickerdoodle cookies and fresh made donuts.

I just read Candle in the Darkness by Lynn Austin.  It was recommended to me by Holly.  I loved it.  Set in Richmond, VA during the Civil War.    Now reading, A Mile in my Flip Flops by Melody Carlson, and I am loving it too.  It's just a light, fluffy, funny book.

Lots of talk in blog land about Sarah Palin.   From what I know so far I like her.  Interesting, surprise choice by McCain.  I will be glad when the election (and all the obnoxious adds) are done.

It's hard to believe that I only have one day left to sleep in before everyone in the house has to be up at 6:30 for school.  Not looking forward to that, but the earlier bedtimes are nice.  We had back to school night, and Oldest's teacher is young, excited and cute.  I feel good about her.  Meeting Daughter's teacher didn't aleviate any of my worries for the school year.  She was nice enough, but she didn't seem excited and I was unimpressed with her over-stuffed class room.  Daughter is very excited though, so I am just hoping for the best.

I'm curious what the next few weeks will be like with Youngest.  It will be just he and I for a couple hours everyday.  I envision him following me around a lot.  I'm looking forward to some time with just him.

Starting to think about the holidays all ready.  Considering different options for the kid's Christmas gifts and travel plans for the holidays.  My good friend will be in Utah at Christmas so I would love to get there and see her.  Hoping to make it home for Thanksgiving.

When I was young I couldn't figure out why people wanted to go to Utah.  Now, I can't stop think about going home.

What are you thinking about on this first morning of September?  Happy September, by the way. ;-)

Farmer's markets are one of my favorite things about summer! We went just last weekend and blew a ton of money, then had a picnic down by the river. One of those great memories to last a lifetime!

We live in a climate too crappy for Farmers markets. There is one downtown in a parking lot at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, bad rush hour, opposite direction of kids afterschool activities. When I bought corn on the cob at the grocery store the other day and it was lifeless and tasteless, I yearned for a farmers market.

Good luck with Kinder! I think your daughter will shine no matter where she is, she is so excited and ready. She's lucky to have you worrying in her corner, then she doesn't have to fret about starting school.

I'll be in Utah at Christmas. That totally sealed your plans didn't it? I mean come on, ME!

I'm thinking about all the things I want to get done today and how I won't be able to accomplish all of it. Same old story. I'm also thinking about the book I'm reading, the Goose Girl. I know you've read this one, Amanda. I am completely and totally loving it. I'm also thinking it's been way too long since we've gotten together. I think it's time I make a trip to Troutdale my friend.

It sure seems like summer went by fast doesn't it? I love Civil War era novels, maybe I will check out that one you mentioned. The Farmer's Market is one of my favorite places on Earth! I love getting such fresh yummies and its a great place to take pictures. Hope you guys have a great first day of school!

I love the farmer's market! The one by us goes til the end of September, so I'm excited to take the kids soon.

You guys get up at 6:30 for school? That's impressive. School doesn't start here til 8:50, so I let the kids sleep in a bit longer...and me too.

Happy first day of school tomorrow!
