All morning he has been carrying a pancake around on the side of his head, and trying to get me to lay down on the pancake. No, thanks.***
This is my 100th Post. I'm not sure if that is good or bad.

I’m a believer that clutters takes over every part of your life. Didn’t someone write a book about that? Does anyone know what it’s called? Did anyone read it?
I have a lot of clutter, and stacks of junk all around. My cupboards and closets and stuffed full, the garage is cluttered, there are newspapers, books, and magazines all over the place. Stacks of clothes that need to be put away, dishes that need a run through the dishwasher. I can feel affecting me in everything. Part of the problem is that I have become so lazy. It’s so easy after dinner to say, "oh, the dishes can wait until morning," etc. I’ve also become obsessed with the computer and checking my email and Google Reader. I’ve decided I’ve got to do something, so this week I am tackling the clutter. All of it.
I’m also implementing a new chore schedule with a new summer schedule since school gets out today. I have assigned my oldest and my daughter chores for everyday of the week. Two or three chores a day, and each day at 9:00 am we are going to get those done. I’m also making a chore chart for me. Some of the things I want the kids to do need to be started by me. For example on Monday my daughter has to unload the dishwasher, so I need to run it on Sunday night. On Thursday my oldest is supposed to fold the towels, so I need to get them washed and dried on Wednesday. I also have things that I need to do everyday, and where I am a list person, writing them down and checking them off will make me do them.
We’re going to have quiet time each day when my youngest naps, and this will be the time for me to check email and blogs. Other than that it will only be done in the evenings after the kids are in bed. We are going to have a day to go hiking, a day for the park, a day or two for friends and play dates, plus a day for errands and grocery shopping. I have a list of fun things we can when we need to get out of the house (zoo, Children’s Museum, Library, parks, Farmer’s Markets, etc.), and fun things to do when we are home (make journals, write letters, make bread and cookies, make masks, rain sticks and caterpillars, etc.)
My plan makes me not quite so afraid of three kids at home all the time for three months.
Now, I’m off to clean out a couple of closets. Wish me luck!
What are your plans to survive summer?

This sounds eerily familiar. I have been feeling much the same way. I even posted about it but did not get very far in my plans to de-clutter. I am working on it. I have a schedule but we have not followed it in weeks. I need to revamp it and get it going again. Thanks for the motivation!
I agree about the clutter. For the last couple of weeks I've been working to keep it out of our home. I go through the mail before I go inside and throw out all of the junk. Even the stuff I always think I'll read, but end up leaving in a stack somewhere. I also "clean sweep" the house a couple times a day to get the kids' toys back downstairs, etc. One more thing that's working for me, since I'm great at washing, but terrible at folding and putting away laundry: I run a load every day (this keeps them small and manageable) and get it folded and put away before I go to bed. It's so much easier to do that than face 3 huge baskets-full!
I love your idea of having activities right on hand for the crazy days. I need to do that.
you little boy cracks me up! that is one of my new favorite movies! we just watched it again this weekend!
I saw so much of myself in this post. I am going to survive by making it a point to get outside once a day with my kiddos. There is so much free or inexpensive things to do around here. I've been pretty good about taking advantage of it in the past and we are going to do that again this year.
cool ideas! I think I'm going to adopt some of them--esp. the mommy chore list. I could use one of those!! :)
Great ideas! I need to implement the blogging and emailing only during naptime and at night. Maybe. :)
I love that your son is carrying around a pancake. Hilarious!
Oh, and the clutter? Yeah, I need to tackle mine, too. Maybe I'll be motivated when my mom comes next week! She always motivates me because I don't want her to think I don't care about my house...
I love getting rid of clutter! YOu go girl.
Dan in Real Life was such a good movie. Loved it.
We have so many fun things planned this summer it is going to fly by. Plus I"ll be cramming in some study time whenever I can.
I'm planning on losing a bunch of clutter when we move. Other than that, I have NO PLANS for surviving summer. But I need to get some. My kids are getting bored quick.
And the pancake thing...awesome. Aw, just lay down on the breakfast bread for the kid!! And then take a picture and I will giggle. :)
We are on our second week of summer and I still feel like I don't have my mojo yet. Usually I am Summer Fabulous Mom. This year I have to get through Cub Camp, until then, everybody gets video games and cold cereal 24/7. It's starting to get on all of our nerves but after Thursday, I think we'll be good.
I like all your ideas, and am so with you on the time drain of my hobbies. I guess if I were out galavanting around the city with my friends from waking until bed I wouldn't get much done around the house either, don't know why I think I can do it from the comfort of my fluffy pillows!
Good luck in your summer efforts!!
And did I mention Dan in Real Life is my FAVORITE movie of the past 5 years at least? I LOVE IT. LOVE IT. And the soundtrack? Divine. LOVE LOVE LOVE THAT MOVIE.
I love all your ideas for keeping organized and scheduled for the summer. I hope you have a great one full of fun and blissful neatness! :)
When your done tackling your clutter your welcome to come help me tackle mine. I feel the same way about my house and clutter. What a great way to start off the summer. Looks like your kids will stay busy!!! My plans consist on sleeping in until at least 8.
I NEED a plan. Thanks for sharing yours.
My plans for surviving summer? A pancake to the face sounds like a great start. :-)
