We spent Memorial Day weekend camping.
In the northwest, that translates to we spent the weekend in the rain. (After all, according to my sister, you can’t depend on sun until after July 4.) It was wet. But it was beautiful. And it was fun. Not much beats spending time in the great outdoors with the husband and the kids.
We played games, hiked, read books, threw rocks in the river, stayed up late, watched the kids ride bikes around and around the campsite, checked out cool rocks, looked for animals, poked sticks in the fire and ate far too many cheater-s’mores (that’s a s’more made with a roasted marshmallow and fudge-striped cookies instead of graham crackers and hershey bars. The chocolate melts this way. And it’s good!).

Those cheater s'mores sound awesome. Adorable pictures. Sorry it rained but it sounds like you made the most of it.
It rains every time I go camping, lol. But camping with kids it the BEST!
You got some great shots of the weekend. I commend you for braving camping in the rain. I can't tell you how many times it has rained during our girl scout camping trips. Not a favorite of mine. :)
Yep, sadly summer doesn't really start until July 5th. It looks like you had a wonderful time.
Your cheater s'mores sound oh so yummy. And rain or shine, you can't beat family time. I wish I could get my family into camping but I admit I'm not very experienced. It might be a disaster, lol.
Camping is so fun with kids, I wish my DH would go along. Thanks for the cheater smores tip!
I've heard of those cheater s'mores but have yet to try them.
Have you ever tried a Reeses on a s'more?
IT IS HEAVENLY!!!
By the way, were you camping in Vernonia?
No, we were in Washington. By Carson.
