Who knew?

Several months before we moved we bought a new couch.  It is a large sectional with a recliner on one end and a chaise lounger on the other end.  Because of the size, and the rooms that we have had the couch in the chaise has always been by a wall.  At Christmas time, we moved one section of the couch into the front room to make room for the Christmas tree in the family room.  We also moved the coffee table in the front room. 

Then we realized something: We like having a table and couch in the front room.  Before it had just a book case, the piano and a recliner. 

So when we took the tree down, I left that section of the couch and the coffee table in the front room and just angled the leftover pieces of the couch in the family room.  As we sat on the chaise over the last few days, we started to worry that it was broken.  That the kids had jumped on the couch a few too many times.  It started out with one corner of the section leaning back if you hit it the right way.  Then the other side.

Yesterday, my brother came over for dinner and was sitting on the chaise part of the couch.  My youngest jumped on him and the back of the chaise fell back.  We all panicked.  Now the couch was really broken.  Bryan got down on the floor and started examining the back.  As it turns out:

It is supposed to recline.  Who knew?!

Here we are more than two years later and we are just learning that it reclines.  At least it’s not broken!
