Most of the time I am not a fan of the humidity in Oregon.
I know it doesn’t compare with other places, but for me, coming from dry old Utah: Oregon is humid.
It makes my hair a giant-puffy-ball-of-curls. It ain’t pretty, people.
But! I have found something good about humidity. Behold:
It’s a brownie.
And I baked them a little too long. So they were hard. So I left them on the counter all night uncovered. The next day – they are soft and moist and chewy. The same thing happens to Rice Crispy Treats that have a little too much cereal put in.
I know you all want to move to Oregon now.

That brownie looks awesome.
The humidity is good for that - that and ONLY that.
If you think it's humid there - try Missouri in July. It's like taking a bath in the air. Gross.
I never really thing of Oregon being humid until after I've been in Utah for a couple of days and feel like I need to pick all the boogers out of my nose. Thankfully my husband always carries a handkerchief.
Yeah...here in Utah I have to cover my dry old brownies at night and deal with them being a little overcooked. Uncovered would result in a very large brown rock in the pan.
I haven't lived in Oregon, but I sure liked it when I visited.
I have never thought about Oregon in quite this way. But now I know why my brownies that I forget to cover and stay out on the counter all night are still nice and chewy in the morning:) Too funny!
That's the coolest thing I've ever heard! I had no idea humidity would do that. And for rice crispy treats too. Nice.
you should have titled the post "hummmmmidity". you are bringing that over to my house, right?! BTW...I just used the leftover book group coconut/lime/white chocolate frosting (yes, i'm proud i still have leftovers : ) to top brownies for a leadership mtg this week.
p.s. love your tulip banner! it's so cheery compared to the grey outside.
Yes, I AM jealous. Now I am going to eat a brownie. :)
Brilliant! It's the place for the non-chefs of the world to congregate!
I'm gonna try that..it's pretty dang humid here, lol.
