“You make a pile of heads by you.”

DSCN7423

That’s a sentence I never thought I would hear.  My 8-year-old told me that on Saturday as we were sitting on his floor playing Legos.  I was digging through the big bin trying to find the parts to make a scooper construction thing for the 4-year-old.  Amazing how those little heads (and other body parts) end up at the bottom of the bin.

Relaxing Sundays are gone.  We had an ice storm on Saturday night so church was cancelled on Sunday.  What should have been a day spent in pajamas, watching movies, playing games and relaxing wasn’t.  Bryan was put in the bishopric last week, and he had to get to the church for their early morning meetings.  It was in the meeting that they decided to cancel church.  They ended up staying at the church for meetings for four hours.  Then, as the sun was shining and the ice was melting, they did tithing settlement and Bryan had to enter tithing which takes two hours.  Six hours of church meetings on a day with no church=three bored kids and one cranky mom.  Oh, well.  We’ll adjust.

I made Pioneer Woman’s Perfect Pot Roast (from her cookbook) yesterday.  A-Maz-Ing.  Seriously.  The best pot roast I have ever had.  Tender, flavorful and all gone.  Every last bit was eaten. The bad thing is that the house still smells like a big piece of meat.

-------

We were supposed to get snow this weekend.  It didn’t happen.  I’m disappointed about that.  I am instead looking at the paper snowflakes that are hanging in the window and pretending they are real.  I got the pattern for them from here and they are very cool.  And easy!

-------

Over the weekend we took the kids to see a movie.  It’s a rare treat.  We went to see Disney’s The Princess & The Frog.  It was cute.  I liked it. I loved the music, and I really enjoy the hand-drawn animation. Great story line and moral too.

------

I’m going to start reading The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson (thank you Scholastic book orders – only $1!) to my kids tonight.  It’s a classic.  Love it.

You have PW's cookbook? I want that. When I get it I am going to make that pot roast. Why are all of her recipes so dang good?

I hope for your sake we get some snow soon.

Wow, the bishopric? That's going to be an adjustment. It will be a blessing and a struggle at the same time, huh?

We have a winter storm warning for this weekend...I hope we do get to spend it in our pajamas! We have TONS of Legos here too but they belong to hubby, not the kids, lol. He has all of his "body parts" in a special container. Weird, huh?

I feel your pain with Bryan's meetings. Michael has been gone on Sundays for meetings for the past 5 years. Those are some long days. Good luck, and I'm here to commiserate with you!! Loves!
