Random Thoughts

The house needs to be cleaned, there is laundry waiting to be started, and dinner needs to be figured out and my parents and in-laws arrive tomorrow.  But, I tell you, I’m exhausted (which is why I am sitting here when I really shouldn’t be).  I took the kids out to grocery shop and then a trip to Costco.  Shopping with three kids wears me out!  I’m used to going with none or sometimes one kid.  Makes me kind of dread summer. Sigh.

I’m reading a parenting book.  It’s a pretty good one, I think.  Makes me think.  Parts of it make me feel guilty and parts make me feel inspired.  It is “Have a New Kid by Friday” by Dr. someone-or-other Leman.  He also wrote “How to Make Your Kids Mind With Out Losing Yours” but I haven’t read that one.

I might have done something crazy. I signed up to do Portland to Coast.  I’m part of a 12 member team that will walk from Portland to the coast or 120 miles.  I think that each person will do two legs for about 10 miles each.  We start in the morning and walk all day, all night and all the next day until we reach the coast.  I hope I don’t have to walk up the mountain pass that is on the way.  I haven’t seen a course map.  I’m part excited, part nervous and part terrified.  I’m getting stronger through my work-outs and I love it.

Our library has a great selection of DVD’s and one that I checked out recently is The Biggest Loser’s Weight Loss Yoga.  It rocks.  It’s so hard, and I work up such a sweat.  I’m totally buying it.

Spring is about to hit.  I can feel it.  There are crocuses blooming, my hyacinth is going to any day now and the Tulip Fest is open.  I just need the temp to go up a few more degrees and I’ll be set.

That’s all for now.  The computer battery is about to die, I need to get the kids off the Wii and I really need to get going on the housework.

What are you up to these days?  Has Spring hit your area yet?

I like random posts. Totally need to check out the BL yoga video. Might be a good one, even though I'm not a video-type of gal.

Here's hoping it warms up soon!

That walk sounds so cool. What fabulous motivation, and how fun!

My house was like that, I tuned the whole world out, ignored other responsibilities and cleaned and laundered today. Guess what? It's 9:48 and it looks just like it did before I started cleaning. Sigh.

That walk sounds awesome! And the fact that it's a walk and not a run sounds even better. You are going to love it. I can't wait for recaps on the training and finally the event. Like do you know all your team members in advance?

Hey Kelly, I suppose that some people know their team members before hand. I know one (Darilyn at My Enchanted Musings) and have met one other. I hope we get together a time or two before the walk so I can get to know the whole group a little.

The walk sounds really neat. I read "How to Make Your Child Mind Without Losing Yours" a long time ago and it was pretty good as I recall. I too have housework begging my attention but it's after 11pm and I am beat, so I'm sitting here unwinding instead. Do you still have an Etsy store? I cam eby to get the link but I don't see it anymore.

Hope your visits go well!

Hey Melinda, Etsy was kind of a bust for me so I haven't listed anything in ages. If I list again, I'll let you know. :)

We will be getting together sometime in the near future. I know Hailey said she wanted to do that. We are going to have such a blast.

I love your randomness. And the rainbow is beautiful.

I did the Portland to Coast walk. I wish I did it with people I knew and liked : )...at least in the van I was in. One gal talked and snored. I'm such a light sleeper, it was a drag. Another had to SLATHER her legs with some menthol icy hot smelly stuff each time. Bleck in an enclosed space! I loved the walking part. It would have been nice to have to walk three segments instead of two. Once we got to the beach one gal wanted to leave IMMEDIATELY to see her kids. I thought we got to play : ) I like your idea of getting together to know each other first. The people I knew better were in the other van on our team. Some teams have it down--have been doing it for so many years--they have hotel rooms, are well rested, know where to pull over, etc. I would definitely do it again with the right team though. Also, I thought I was a pretty fast walker, but was blown away by some speed walking 'oldies'!

Hope you are enjoying the sunshine and your family!
